The school wouldn't let her call or go home after the ****** putting her in danger.

Everyone involved needs to be fired. The students who beat and threatened her need to be placed in juvenile until they are twenty-five. :hammer:

When someone faces an ****** such as this (and for this reason), it really strengthens her initial argument. And says a lot about the type of person who is angered by her sign.

The school really botched this situation as well by not letting her go home or call home. I hope her attackers are brought to justice.

as a parent of 4 girls I am pissed that the school handled this so poorly and did not look out for well being. Is this reverse/ gender racism? the attackers who obviously haven't learned that America is a democratic society need to be shipped back to mexico

I think it's rather silly, unhelpful, and unconstructive to start a sign with "If you love our country..."

Why not just say "If you don't agree with me, then you don't love our country!" ??

But having young students make signs for one side or another (black & white) of a political issue just seems like a less than educational project to me - also, it's far too EASY.

The article is also lacking further context about the situation at the school prior to this ******. Certainly it's possible that some Hispanic students had been falsely ID'd as *******, by this girl who made the poster, or by others. That doesn't JUSTIFY a physical ****** over a poster, but it might help to explain it. Although it's possible that this just came out of the blue.

This is appalling. First of all, why would a teacher assign such an assinine project as that? What were the students supposed to learn from it? Political division? Bigotry? Second, if the girl, or anyone else for that matter, was having doubts about ******* immigration, this incident would certainly form a strong opinion. I mean, what kind of a fucking imbecile fights for a cause by attacking those with differing points of view? I thought only liberals did that. And, to top it all off, what kind of numbnutted principal/secretary/office staff member sees that a girl has been attacked and threatened with **** and ******, and doesn't allow her to even call home? Someone in the administration needs to be locked in a portable toilet and set on fire.

Especially since all the attackers came from Mexico, right? There are no scumbags living in the US from anywhere else in the whole fucking world except from Mexico, right? Jeffrey Dahlmer, Charles Manson, Mike Tyson, and Jim Jones were all from Mexico, right?

"DALLAS -- School officials said Wednesday that an Athens eighth-grader lied when she claimed a mob of angry students assaulted her for making a poster that read, "If you love our nation, stop ******* immigration."

Surveillance cameras at Athens Middle School show Melanie Bowers, 13, purposefully making scratch marks on her face and arms in a hallway after a classmate took her poster in a "snatch-and-grab" style, Athens school Superintendent Fred Hayes said."

That was a so over the top reaction to an alleged fist fight in a school I thought.But now it all turns out to have been faked by the complaining girl.Now she of course should be punished but jail time is here also extremely inapporiate IMO.
Do we really think just locking up **** for stuff like this is a good idea,even if it was true which it wasn't?
If you do I hope you are ready to pay way more in taxes and have large amounts of **** locked up creating even more problems probably in the future for them/with them after that terrible experience.

They are still wrong for taking the sign and even they they didn't hurt her it's still an assult and theft of personal property.
She still should have been allowed to go home after that.

Three Hispanic students had been suspended for their role in the alleged scuffle. Hayes said their punishment remains valid because they helped take the poster, but did not hurt Bowers in doing so. Hayes said on Tuesday that witnesses reported seeing the three make physical contact with their white classmate. The Hispanic students returned to class Wednesday.
