Greatest sportsman ever (in any sport)?

Brian clough without doubt, what he did with forrest is the greatest achievement in football ever.

The Americans & other nations on here wont have heard of him, but he is thought very highly of in Britain & the UK

Lance Armstrong.

the first name i think of, i say that because he never lost.

Floyd Mayweather has to be up there, he's cocky - but he is still good

That storyline with him in the WWE is a joke!

But did he win cleanly? I think the only sport dirtier than Baseball is Cycling, Slik...

Lance Armstrong lost me when he dated one of the Olson sisters. That's gross dude...

how do you know he cheated. i can't say he did, so his accomplishments in cycling are above anybody else i can think of.

floyd mayweather is not the greatest boxer ever

Patrick_S

persona non grata
Lance Armstrong.

Lance Armstrong "lost" more cycle races than he won, i guess what you mean is that he won the Tour de France seven consecutive years.
The greatest for me is Roger Federer but if you ask again in a couple of years my answer would probably be Michael Phelps.

Carl Lewis athletics, Roger Federer Tennis, Football George Best, Golf Tiger Woods, Ali boxing, Stephen Hendry Snooker.
Too name but a few fucking legends

I can agree with that list.
To make it complete (IMO):
Phil Taylor - Darts
Michael Schumacher - Formula 1
Eric Hayden - Icespeedskating

This Floyd Mayweather crap on WWE is unbelievable! 39-0?! And now he claims that he's an "entertainer" and not just a boxer. Does he have a hip-hop album coming up? He should just prepare for his September rematch against Dela Hoya and stop bitchin' and goin' crazy on his money like Roy Jones Jr. did. If I were him, I'd learn some MMA and MAYBE THEN claim to be the world's greatest fighter. :D

Rocky Marciano retired with 49-0, mate.
he, Ali and Joe Luis are considered like the best of all time, if you ask me.

Ali lost,Joe Louis fought Bum Of The Month
there can be no better record than 49-0

I'm going to pull for a Nadal v Federer French Open this year with Fed taking the crown. He is a great tennis champion.

I read an interesting article about the "age limit" in Men's Tennis in the Wall Street Journal once. It's age 26. That's the year of the decline begins. The article showed the winning percentages of Connors, McEnroe, Sampras..and it was clear..the winning stopped when they all hit 26.

Feds might be done...

my boi emmitt smith is up there.. but i think brett favre will always be remembered for being the toughest player to ever play in the nfl.

Sir Don Bradman - Cricket

True enough, his career statistics are so far ahead of all other cricketers that he stands out like a beacon. Though I also have great respect for Sir Garfield Sobers who could bat and bowl a bit as well :)

Of current sportsmen how about Sir Steven Redgrave with gold medals in five consecutive Olympic Games ?

Mike Tyson. He can kick your ass and pierce your ears at the same time. :1orglaugh
