NY Governor Linked to Prostitution Ring

NEW YORK - Gov. Eliot Spitzer, the crusading politician who built his career on rooting out corruption, has told senior advisers he was involved in a prostitution ring, The New York Times reported Monday. He has not made an announcement about resigning but is expected to. David Patterson is expected to be sworn in as the new governor tonight.

Two things I would say is one notice who the newspaper is that is reporting the story,the "New York Times" which is routinely criticized as being biased.This story goes against that arguement.
2nd is I am not so sure this is such a bad thing that he should have to resign over it.There is a republican senator from LA(Vitter) who had similar story come out and he didn't resign.But thats Spitzers call I guess.Its interesting though the ****** values party(pubs) and Vitter was a spokeman for that stuff don't resign but the Liberal dem gov of NY apparently will.
Wouldn't it be nice if we just dropped all this moral judgements about people's sexual activities and then maybe so many wouldn't be in trouble or total hypocrites.As long as its conscentual adults I think we do not need to be so concerned.But thats just my opinion,I care more about other things politicans do then who they have sex with.

The charge is actually human trafficking through interstate to ******* federal law in order to faciltate prostitution, i.e. transport of a high price prostitute from NY to Wash.D.C. is the actual charge. Not the act itself. i.e.prostitution in "most cases" is a state or local crime.

it does seem a slight bit heavy handed to enforce morality while you are cheating on your wife by hiring high priced call girls . there are even likely gonna be implications that he may help keep his prostitution ring outta the view of the law,if so he would really need to just quietly go away .

I don't care who they have sex with... but what I do care about is that all these politicians in Washington (and all over the place) are regularly using prostitutes, and they are the very ones that vote in the laws making prostitution so ******* in the US. Therefore, I think they should bust their asses and throw the book at them.

Couldn't be govt. funds. A couple of reasons:

Governments always do things based on the lowest bidder possible (And I'm sure this guy could have found a prostitute for less than 4300).

Second- if the govt. *was* to hire a high priced call girl/prostitute/etc, then no matter what she charged, the government would automatically contract with her to pay her five times that much.
