A little rant about Iraq supporters

After running into one of the local yokals and listening to him brag up how great the war in Iraq was "keeping them terrorists out of America" I asked him, seeing as his boys were about the same age as mine, if he would encourage his boys to join up? his answer was "Hell no, they need to go to school, find jobs and get theirs lives established, besides I don't want to bury one of them, I just can't imagine what that would be like!"
Well I do know what it is like to bury your own *****; It's been a ****** miserable hell for the last year and a half. I cut my oldest boy down from the tree he hung himself from and buried him 3 days latter. he was 22. My other *** a couple of months latter told me he volunteered to go over and that he was going to be a machine gunner with the National Guard. And I am proud as hell of him. Neither of us believe much in this war, but as a vet, I understood his need to go.
What burns my ass, is these so called Patriots that don't mind sending other peoples' **** into harms way but draw the line at having their own ******** go.
Miserable hypocrates if you ask me.
If I am wrong about feeling this way, then tell me so. Maybe I'm just a shallow grieving ****** that can't see "the Big picture" here. It's just the hypocrocy of "I support the war as long as no one in my ****** has to serve" that gets my anger up.

The people who are gung-ho for the Iraq War but refuse to serve in the military are called Premium Link Upgrade . In addition, they refuse to pay for the war with a tax increase. They follow Bush’s advice and go shopping instead. You can see them daily on Fox News. You are not wrong. The Chicken Hawks are disguising.

you are far from shallow , you love your sons and that is a great thing. i empathise with your loss and hope you bear your grief as well as anyone can ever bear it. you are quite right about hypocracy in zealot "patriots" , i suffered a certain rage when i heard mitt romney say " one of my two great regrets is that i never got to serve ..." during a debate ,blah , there is nothing to stop these super patriots from serving . you note a lot of hawks often did not serve , strikes me as odd .

No, no, I totally agree with your view on this.
I ain't no fortunate *** still seems to ring far too true these days.

Nope. I don't think you're shallow or wrong. I think you pretty well nailed it. And condolences to you on your loss.

I couldn't agree more with you. People that blindly support the war, but do not want it to have to effect them directly are cowards. It sucks for those that have loved ones in the war but don't want anything to do with it, have to watch these type of people.

I would join the US Army and serve "over there" if was fit enough.

No, this isn't about people who don't read the initial post properly.

But at least you stay true to yourself and post in every thread.

@jobrien: I can't see anything wrong with your stance. All the best for you and your loved ones.

Im an Iraq supporter and I would never send a member of my ****** over there...

Maleonetwo: all I know about you is that you post some quality links and have helped me with some I.D.'s. I haven't followed your views on anything. If you are unable to serve due to some health reason, that's one thing; my beef is with the people that say "let's send more troops over" but are not willing to share the heartbreak that may accompany that. My issue is more local and not with anyone on this board, I'm too new to have figured out who's who here. So I hope that there are no hard feelings. John

Its absolutely ok John! Ive never said anything negative about you and I understood your post and the intention of that thread absolutely.
Even dvc thinks different. I think dvc just loves me!

I saw that many are against the war...
so I just wanted to post my opinion.

And I was messin around a bit with my quote...thats why I posted the ";)"

So everything is fine

I was going to join the British Army when I was 18, I guess if I had I'd be over there now (or in Afghanistan).

ur totally rigth, support the troops not the war!!!

i would'nt want my *** to go,but its his choice in the end,the only thing to do is to let them know the facts,at 18 y u dont care about politics...

Georgie Bush :mad:boy would never send his ********* to Iraq as well as many other government bigwigs that have power to keep their **** out of harms way. Fuck them......I never supported the war and would rather protect our borders here in the U.S. than to sacrifice untold countless lives of good people all for Bush's stupid W.O.M.D rant.......I feel for all the parents and relatives of those that lost their lives in this dumbass war.

GOD bless the military and GOD bless the U.S.A.!!!!!!!

I don't support Iraq but I do agree with what you say.Unfortunalty there are stupid and unconsiderate people in the world.I feel sorry about your loss and hope that your other lad stays safe. :angels:

Picking on you ...

Okay, I'm going to pick on you.
You can "get fit enough" if you really believe.

I.e., I fully admit I'm a lazy fuck now and making too much money.
Although if they call for a draft, I might have to reconsider.

I've had a good life, and it's not fair to **** who haven't yet.

NO, NO! The big problem with the Bush girls is do they get married at the White House or at the Texas ranch. That is the big question.

The answer I have highlighted is a common answer from people that have **** old enough to serve. The misconception is that people in the military are there because they are un-educated and had no other choice in life but sign up into the military.

As long as people think that way, there will always be Chicken Hawks.

Peace.
